With the scarcity of physical events in the last 2 years, many have resorted to the digital sphere for art. And even before then, online spaces for art forms like music have been plentiful. But how many online spaces exist for poets? The wordsmiths and visionaries. The writers and speakers. The griots and storytellers. You may have seen them at poetry nights or at that one time open mic. But they deserve to be given spotlight even when the night is done. As a permanent online platform, 2PHRASE aims to do just that. 

With curated performances, we want to contribute to growing visibility for poets, and to immortalizing their words. Their words as meaningful as all the different people that speak them. And hopefully we can intrigue those who are new to spoken word to discover. To witness. Because spoken word is not a moment; it’s a movement. One that has a long history, and – as far as we’re concerned – an even longer future.
